Winnie's frustration

Once upon a time, little Christopher grew up in the Hundred Acre Wood with his animal friends Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore and Rabbit. After a happy youth with the beasties, he was drawn to the city to study medicine. He left the others behind in the woods.

 

Later, as a young man, Christopher returnes with his fiancée Mary (pictured below) to pay a visit to his old friends. In the meantime, these have gone through hard times, had to eat Eeyore and have become extraordinarily nasty.

 

Gruesome girls evening

Almost simultaneously, six women plan a relaxing weekend in a forest cabin nearby. One of them, Maria, has a stalker trauma to deal with, so a girls' night out at the cozy cabin comes in handy.

 

Jessica (pictured below), Lara, Zoe, Alice and Maria arrive at the cabin early, while Tina gets lost a bit and ends up with the not-so-nice animal friends right away. Winnie and Piglet are in a bad mood and channel their anger immediately onto the innocent women.

 

Classic slasher at the forest dwelling

As part of the Splatterday Nightfever film festival, Winnie the Pooh - Blood and Honey was previewed a month earlier than the estimated cinema start. Aimed at the horror subgenre of "dangerous cabin in the woods", it adds a grotesque touch with once cuddly critters.

 

The splatter factor is high, so logically you can no longer speak of a children's film. Humor or gentle creepiness is also not the goal, but there are some unintentionally funny situations, which we also like B-movie movies for sometimes.

Do not go into the forest

Such trash movies can develop their own charm. In fact, even this lousy piece of film has its moments. The environment has something of its own, the drone shots are okay and the forest hut looks cozy.

 

The characters aren't that unsympathetic either. Christopher in particular has a bit of the makings of a hero. The girls seem to be good friends when they arrive at the cabin, but only Zoe defends herself effectively against the monsters.

 

 

Music and sound

The music by Andrew Scott Bell is inconsequential and drones along. It doesn't offer any special features at all, but on the other hand it hardly disturbs. Noises are just as unnoticeable.

 

Shortcomings

Many mistakes in shooting, faithless characters, actresses relatively talentless or underwhelming, mannerly ending missing and one misses many animal friends. At least Rabbit and Owl appear briefly, which I didn't notice at first.

 

True Winnie the Pooh fans will condemn this flawed piece anyway. Another big shortage is that only a few details of the children's films have been picked up here, such as Christopher or the honey. Something like that annoys and gives a weak picture.

Summary

Not unpleasantly bad, yet completely irrelevant slasher and unintentionally funny

 

It wouldn't have taken much to make this horror film with the angry bear at least moderately nice. But it didn't work out. The passable beginning gives hope for a nice crazy splatter nonsense. Then logic errors in the sequel cause trouble.

 

That the girls appear helpless and awkward may still pass for tradition, but where are the other fantasy animals? Where is the suspense and why does this cinematic cucumber strip lack a proper ending? Well, part 2 is already planned and will hopefully enlighten us.

 

Actors

The main character is played by Nikolai Leon who may be known for his work in The killing tree and Alien invasion. The actresses are also known from horror B-movies mostly.
