Space station Knowhere

The Guardians of the Galaxy now spend their time on the mobile space station "Knowhere", where their spaceship "The Bowie" is also parked. Gamora is alive after the tumultuous events of Avengers Endgame, but she is not the same green friend the team had grown to love.

 

Suddenly, a Sovereign warrior named Adam Warlock (photo below) attacks the station. High Priestess Ayesha accompanies him and shortly afterwards also has to save him as the Guardians fight back.

 

Rocket is hurt

Quasi raccoon Rocket is injured during the attack. Not even a medpack can help him, because some implanted lock in his chest prevents treatment.

 

The friends naturally decide to fly straight to the location of the company that manufactures these blocking devices, the Orgosphere. On the way there, Gamora also happens to fly across their path again.

 

Conclusion of the trilogy

The adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy and the guest appearances in Avengers Infinity War and Endgame have come to an end with this third film in the series. However, there is still a lot of action until the short conclusion at the finish line.

 

Mainly, the last movie revolves around Rocket's previously secret past and the friendly relationships between the team members. Besides the bizarre orgosphere, the planet Counter-Earth is also a memorable place to stay.

 

Director James Gunn was temporarily fired

All three GotG films and many other box office hits such as The Suicide Squad, Slither, 13 Ghosts, Tromeo & Julia or the Dawn of the Dead remake connect audiences with director and writer James Gunn.

 

In the course of the me-too movement, provocative and misleading comments by him on social media from the past were discovered, which is why Fox fired him.

 

Since he has since distanced himself from the old opinions and sarcastic comments, and many colleagues such as Dave Bautista backed him up, he was able to return for the conclusion of the film.

You can tell that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was also designed for a young audience. Curses and gruesome scenes of violence were avoided. On the other hand, the film is not devoid of violence. In the UK the movie has got a 12 theatrical and home video rating and PG-13 certificate in the US.

Anecdote: Actress Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, said she had a couples therapy appointment on a day of filming. Since she didn't want to miss either, she went there after the shoot in full Nebula gear. Otherwise it would have taken too long to get rid of the mask.

High Evolutionary

The villain High Evolutionary is played by actor Chukwudi Iwuji. The idea of the unscrupulous researcher with a twisted idea of an idealised society comes from Guardians of the Galaxy comics and the book by H.G. Wells "The Island of Dr Moreau".

 

Even though he has formidable technologies at his disposal that can accelerate evolution, for example, he does not have a plastic surgeon at hand to make his damaged face handsome again.

 

 

Music and sound

As expected, the sounds are very unique and curious. As in previous editions of the series, an effort has also been made with the choice of music titles. Less original, however, is the standard action-movie background music.

 

Shortcomings

After an interesting opening, the story falls flat in the second part. Unfortunately, the music in the background is too generic except for the scenes with well-known song titles. The myriad of original ideas from the first two parts is no longer matched.

Mediocre final of a great trilogy that is nevertheless fun and entertaining - especially for fans

 

I left the cinema a little disappointed, as the level of Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 cannot keep up with the two predecessors and the guest appearances in Avengers.

 

On the other hand, a lot is done right here, for example, the action comedy brings a lot of open ends together to a successful conclusion, bristles with little known details like the Zargnuts and offers wickedly expensive special effects.

 

So the point is: if you're a big fan of Guardians of the Galaxy or want to know how the story ends, you should pick up this fun one. There's still more originality here than in many others, and even compared to many Marvel adaptations.

 

 

Actors and dubbing

Bradley Cooper takes care of Rocket again and Vin Diesel speaks the wooden creature Groot, which you hardly notice because he practically only says two different sentences. Here is the list divided into real actors and computer-generated characters.
